Travel Basketball
CHYSC 2024-2025 TRAVEL BASKETBALL
The Chestnut Hill Youth Sports Club Travel Basketball Program is a competitive travel basketball program for boys and girls entering grades 4th-8th. Evaluation sessions are in October. Teams start practice early November and play games December through March, which includes a league schedule (including playoffs) as well as pre-season and possibly post-season tournaments. Most weeks will have two practices and 1-2 games. Opponents generally reside in Philadelphia, and the Greater Philadelphia area, most within a 45-minute radius.

REQUIREMENTS
- All players must register and complete waivers in order to be considered for a team.
- Players are not guaranteed automatic succession to the next grade level for the next season. Players must try out for their respective teams each year.
- Players will be selected by coaches and/or independent evaluators at the conclusion of tryouts.
TEAMS

CHYSC will roster ONE team per grade level 4th-8th (separate boys and girls teams). Additional teams may be added on a case by case grade level basis based on registration numbers and skill level.
LOCATIONS
Home games and practices will be at Wissahickon Charter School: Awbury Campus. Away games are played at different locations generally within a 45-minute drive.
TRY-OUTS
This is a competitive, try-out based program! All players must be registered to try-out for the league. If your child does not make the team, we encourage your child to participate in our Intramural League so they do not miss out on an opportunity to play winter basketball.
COMMITTMENT
Teams typically practice twice a week (2-2.5 hours total practice time) and play a 12-game schedule with one to two games per week. The ICBA league schedule goes from mid-December to mid-February followed by ICBA playoffs in late February / early March. Teams may participate in additional tournaments based on discretion of parents and coaches. Please consider this commitment before trying out for a team.
REQUIRED DOCUMENTS
- Once assigned to a team all entering 4th graders and any player new to the ICBA must hand in a copy of their birth certificate to have on file with Springfield Basketball Club.
- ALL players must EMAIL the ICBA Medical Release form PRIOR to tryouts. This can be emailed/handed to club staff the day of tryouts. You can download this form here.
