US Soccer Age Group Guidelines: Pertaining to Travel Soccer
Our Travel Team Program teams are bound by the same age group classifications as other youth soccer teams in the United States. EPYSA (the state-level governing body affiliated with US Youth Soccer) requires us to submit birth certificates to show each player’s date of birth. A player who is too old for a team is ineligible to tryout, no exceptions. These rules are strictly enforced by the EPYSA and the use of an ineligible player will result in fines and sanctions to the Club.
Players are grouped by age according to the US Youth Soccer methodology, which determines the player’s age category based on their birth year. The terminology for classifying teams and players follows the convention “U-N” where “U” stands for “Under” and N is the numeric age. The Club did not feel the imperative to operate along USYS guidelines for the Intramural program and will align programs according a September 1st to August 31st so as to keep children with their respective grades, as closely as possible.
