The CHYSC Intramural Soccer Program promotes a fun environment for players to be introduced to the fundamentals of soccer. With the multitude of schools that serve Northwest Philadelphia and the surrounding communities, our program is a wonderful way for children to meet new friends and neighbors.

Our ability to grant special requests is limited, particularly for U10 and above.

Season begins with practices during the week following Labor Day Weekend and runs into early or mid-November, depending upon the age group.

The youngest league includes 4 and 5 year old boys and girls. It is focused on fun drills and games that help to introduce the game of soccer and develop the skills that will serve the children into the future.

We are now also assigning referees to U8 and above.

Age Groups - Fall 2023 

Intramural play starts the week after Labor Day and extends until early November. The older leagues include playoffs that award a league champion team. Occasionally, some of the leagues designate players to form a “select” team to play in a post-season tournament against other regional clubss

SCHEDULE:

For U10 and above practices begin Tuesday September 5th.
For U6 and U8, the season will begin with games on September 9th.


U6: Games tentatively Saturday mornings at 9:00, 10:15, and 11:30 at New Covenant Church Campus.
****Please note that on opening day, September 10th, U6 will play on the turf field at SCH between 9:00 and 12:00 with a specific schedule to follow


U8 Boys: Practice- Mondays 5:30, New Covenant Church Campus
Games- Saturdays 9:00 am SCH


U8 Girls: Practice- Mondays 5:30, Water Tower
Games- Saturdays 10:30 am, SCH


U10 Boys: Practice- Wednesdays 5:30, New Covenant Church Campus
Games- Saturdays 12:00 pm, SCH


U10 Girls: Practice Wednesdays, 5:30, Water Tower
Games- Saturdays 1:30 pm SCH


U12 Boys: Practice Tuesdays, 5:30 Water Tower
Games will vary as we will some weeks be playing against Hunter at their turf field. Most games however will be between 9:00 and 10:30 at the Water Tower or Hunter. All games will take place on Saturdays


U12 Girls: Practice Tuesdays, 6:00 Carson Valley

U15/18: Practice Wednesdays at 6:45 at the Water Tower
Games Saturdays between 1:30 and 4:30

Volunteers Always Needed

CHYSC is an all-volunteer organization that exists only through the committed efforts of adults interested in the development of our region’s youth through sports. Most notably, the Intramural Program, with its many leagues and teams, is always in need of adults to serve as coaches and assistant coaches. Prior soccer experience is not necessary; merely the willingness to pitch in to help create a successful experience for the kids. CHYSC offers several opportunities for adults to develop their knowledge of soccer and coaching skills. The U6 and U8 leagues, in particular, always need adult volunteers to step up. Adults need to also register as coaches at the CHYSC website www.chysc.org under the soccer registration banner. Most teams have a head coach and one or more assistant coaches, so the time commitment can be shared among several adults.   All coaches must have clearances and criminal background checks completed as per PA state law.  Here is a link to help guide volunteers through the clearance process.  http://www.epysa.org/membership/pa_child_protection_laws__clearances/

The general schedule for age groups is below.  This may change depending on field availability.

U6 - One weekly 60 minute time slot on a Saturday that is a practice/scrimmage 

U8 and above - One weeknight practice, and one weekend game each week

In the past, fields used included:  Watertower, SCH, Carson Valley and New Covenant Campus.   For 2021, schedules, with field locations will be released in late August.
