Travel Soccer Home – Commissioner, Rick Moseley

The Travel Team Soccer Program of the Chestnut Hill Youth Sports Club (“CHYSC”) is designed to provide players with an opportunity to compete against similarly skilled players in other local clubs.

The purpose and mission of the CHYSC Travel Soccer Program is to develop, administer, and promote a program for providing children with the opportunity to acquire and develop individual and team skills through higher levels of competition, in an atmosphere that encourages FUN, sportsmanship and teamwork.

The Club focuses on player development, rather than just winning individual games, especially in the younger ages, with the goal of developing skilled players who can compete effectively on the field. The primary focus of the program is to teach the game of soccer, grounding players in the skills, tactics and strategies of the game while fostering a love for the sport.

Travel Soccer is for boys and girls with the ability and desire to pursue improving their soccer skills in competition against other clubs. The Travel teams compete in the Inter County Soccer League (“ICSL” or “Intercounty”) which includes teams from other clubs located primarily in Philadelphia, Montgomery and Bucks counties.

CHYSC typically fields teams in age groups from Under age 9 (U-9) through Under age 15 (U-15). For the 2014-2015 season, CHYSC expects to field 16-18 travel teams including both girls and boys teams. Tryouts are held in late spring (typically mid to end of May), for the fall Travel season.

All CHYSC Travel teams are affiliated with the Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer Association (“EPYSA”, www.epysa.org) within Region 1 of the United States Youth Soccer Association (“USYSA”). Age group classifications specify that birth dates range from August 1 of one year through July 31 of the next year. Players are expected to play in their age appropriate group. Per EPYSA regulations, all players must submit a copy of their birth certificate to show their proper age.
