K/1/2 Age Group:
This age group will begin on Sunday, April 7th and run thru Sunday, June 2. Practices will be held on Sundays from 2:30- 4:00 at the fields located at Carson Valley. We will participate in two “play-days,” where we will play teams from other lax clubs. We will host a playday on May 5th. We will also participate in a playday hosted by WissLax on Saturday, May 18th. All girls will need goggles, a stick and a mouthguard( we suggest buying two mouthguards, as these are easily lost)! Every child must have these to play at every practice and playdays. They will not be able to play without them. We are also looking for parents to volunteer to assist in coaching. 3/4 Age Group:
Lax season is quickly approaching! We will be hosting a mandatory evaluation on Sunday, March 10th from 12:30-2:00 at the Carson Valley fields. We will have four teams this year, so the evaluation is necessary to ensure that the teams are balanced with players of all skill levels. Please make sure each child has a stick, goggles and mouthguard. We cannot allow anyone to play without goggles and a mouthguard. For those of you that are new to the 3/4 program, the structure is at least one weeknight practice and games on Saturdays. If field space allows, some of the 3/4 coaches may opt to run a second practice, but that is left to the discretion of the individual team coach. Our hope is to get a few practices in during the last two weeks of March, but we recognize that it is Spring Break for most schools. Our games will begin April 6th. We play in the PAGLA league (Philadelphia Area Girls Lax Association). All of our games will be on Saturdays, either with a start time of 1:00 or 3:00. Each Saturday the teams will actually play three 20-minute games in a round robin set-up. Our home field is Carson Valley. There will be away games as well against other PAGLA clubs, all within about a 20 minute drive from Chestnut Hill. The 3/4 teams will also have two play-days in which they will get to play teams that are outside our PAGLA division. Those playdays will be Fiesta on the Field on Saturday May 4,and the PAGLA playday on Sunday, June 2. Because we are running four teams this year, we have one head coach per team. Therefore, we are hoping that there are parents among you who can volunteer your time either as an assistant coach or as a team parent who can manage the administrative side managing the teams. 5/6 Age Group:
Lax season is quickly approaching. We will be hosting a mandatory evaluation on Saturday March 9, from 10- 11:30 at the Carson Valley fields. We will have two teams in the 5/6 Age Group, a 5/6A team and a 5/6B team. These labels are more necessary for the purpose of games in the PAGLA League then they are for our focus, which is developing the girls’ skills as individuals and in their team play. Both teams will be practicing together, two practices a week. Our games will be on Saturday beginning on April 6th. We are going to implement a system which will allow the girls opportunities to play in the A team games as well as the B team games while following PAGLA rules. The games are in the morning and will be done by 1:00. We would like to try and get a few practices in prior to the start of games but recognize that Spring Break occupies a bulk of the end of March. Our home games will be at the fields at Carson Valley. We will have away games as well. We participate in two playdays throughout the season. The first will be the Abington PlayDay on Saturday, May 11 and our season will culminate with the PAGLA Playday on Sunday, June 2nd. On a different note for the parents of the sixth graders, if any of your daughters are interested in giving back to our lax program by volunteering as coaches for the K/1/2 program on Sunday afternoons, please contact Brandi McLaughlin at bmclaughlin.law@gmail.com.
7/8 Age Group:
Lax season is quickly approaching. We will be fielding a single 7/8B team in the PAGLA league, with games on Saturday mornings in April and May. Home games will be at Carson Valley in Flourtown. We will also have two weekday practices from 6:00 to 7:30, switching to 6:30 to 8:00 after DST. We currently have 13 girls signed up, which is 5-7 short of what we need to field a team. If you know of other girls that are interested in playing,, please have their family contact Jeff Krieger at jkrieger@kriegerarchitects.com. We are also looking for coaching assistance, so contact Jeff by email if you are interested. We are committed to fielding a team at this age group, and have made arrangements with another local club to take some of their girls if we don’t have enough. Please respond by March 3rd with an interest in new players or coaching.
